Yes, I know it only lasts for 5 seconds. But if you're a monk, for example, it may be important to communicate to your teammates WHY you are not doing anything to help yourself or others during that time.

I would like to suggest adding a Blackout icon to the upper left when you have been blacked out.

Why be able to call out Spiteful or Empathy or Migraine or Blind or Crippled or anything else except Blackout? Why not make people call ALL of it out on Vent or TS? I just wonder why Blackout must be different than any other effect on you (apart from the fact that it cannot be removed).

Do you get on Vent/TS with your random arena teammates? Nah, I guess folks who worry about Blackout are always in HoH.

Actually this would be good, say in GVG when a monk calls blackout you have to fall back a bit and let him kite so he won't be spiked.

If your team mates can't see that you're blacked out, don't notice the mesmer running up to you and using black out, or don't know what blackout is... Will telling them that you're blacked out really help anything? :P

As for GvG/HoH, same applies, and if your team mates don't see it there, you'll be on TS/Vent anyway...

No excuse for someone missing it in RA or TA..

How can you stay looking at your monk and watching position and the battle all at the same time. Your doing your job, you alert your teammates when your handicapped with blackout.

Watch the Mesmer run up and black out you? What happens if your all in a tight ball attacking each other, and it's NOT always a Mesmer doing the black out, Rangers.

SS, Empathy, Migraine are all Hexes. Hexes can be removed. Calling the hexes out alerts allies with hex-removal.

Blind and Crippled are both conditions. Conditions can be removed. Calling the conditions out alerts allies with condition removal.

Blackout is Blackout. Blackout can not be removed. Calling the Blackout out would alert your team you are blacked out. Wait, what?

It can't be removed, so honestly, calling it out in chat is just spam. If you're in an organized PvP (TA, HA, GvG), best organization and cooperation come with teamwork. Simply saying "damn, blacked out" on TS/Vent is easier, faster, and cleaner than ctrl+spam.

If you're worried about RA, just remember it's RA, and nobody really cares.

Calling the Blackout out would alert your team that you can't, say, provide any healing for a few seconds. That sounds pretty important to me, regardless of organization level.

All those that you listed are Hexes or Conditions. With Blackout being a skill.

If anything, I think you should be suggesting, that skills or spells with some sort of effect on you that lasts for a period of time be able to be called just like a Hex/Condition/Enchantment. Much like when you walk through Tar in Ascalon.

Yes, but you only said Blackout. I think it'd be a silly update to see "Made it so you can call that you have Blackout on you." When there are many other spells and skills that could have been added to this as well.

I just assumed you really only meant Blackout.

I agree with this as well, however some people enjoy doing PUG 4v4 arenas, not everyone does TS/Vent 4v4,8v8, because if that was the case you are right about the voice communication as others have said.

It should be called over ts/vent, but as long as it's very clear that it's not a hex (and therefore not removalable), I don't see how it would hurt to have a clickable icon for it.

Can't see it being high up Anet's to do list though.

There's not really a reason it SHOULDN'T be implemented, so why not? And not everyone has a mic or a ts/vent server, or chooses to use them for that matter.

Why? Because I don't think blackout was created for you to easily alert your teamates. It was made to disrupt a player's skills/spells, if you were able to call it out, everyone would just fall back for a second, and then blackout would have no effect.
